hi,

I have a website build on DNN  4.05.05.  For this website i need to program a module with a lot of controls.  I tried to build one start control from where the visitors can navigate to the other controls.

for this i tried the following methods:

  • navigateURL(controlKey) : after click i did not see the next control but the skin is still the portal skin
  • navigateURL(controlKey, "mid=" & CStr(ModuleId)) : the next control is showing but the skin has been changed into the admin skin.

Is there a way to do this without changing the skin and stil see the next control?

please help

greetings Koen

By default only the MAIN control of a module utilises the PORTAL SKIN - any other control will display using the ADMIN SKIN.

To do what u require you have one of three options.

1. utilise a PANEL methodology that has all the CONTROLS on one ascx file as switch them on and off as needed
 - easiest - but has extra file overhead - have a look at the signin module for example

2. utilise a Dynamic controll methodology - where your main module loads the required control at runtime,
- needs some programming tricks to make it handle post backs etc correctly

3. utilise a page switching methodology
 - here u setup each control as a seperate module
 - and implement a redirect system that moves the user from page to page.

(this one can be a maintenance nightmare - but does work if thought out properly)

Thanks for the response.

At this moment, i use the 3e method but because there is a lot of maintenance i want to change this.  I think in mine case the 2e method will be the best.

greetings

Koen
