There is one thread in the DotNetNuke.com forums that I've tried many times to track with e-mail notifications, but it keeps erroring out every time I try.

A critical error has occurred.
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Forum_TrackedThreads'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Forum_TrackedThreads'. The statement has been terminated.

If I clear the check mark, it does not give me an error, but if I add the check mark back in there, it generates the error.  The notification setting isn't set when I get this error, so I have no way to track that thread.  I have got it to work successfully on other threads though.

Unfortunately, This is a known bug in the forums.  They seem to be VERY HARD at work getting another release to us:

Nonetheless, once you do get it to take and track it, chances are that you won't receive emails anyway like the rest of us schmucks. :)

Due to bugs, the only way to really get notifications is at the forum level. I am aware of all these bugs and have corrected them in the dev base.

Hey Chris, I know that notification, and new threads are a couple of the known bugs, but here is some behavior that I am experiencing just in case you do not know about it.  I hope that this will also lend insight into the workflow that caused these issues for me.  If you do know about all of this, I apologize, and please disregard this post.

  1. I can contribute to existing threads.  (You know about this)
  2. I cannot create a new thread (You know about this)
  3. I cannot receive notifications after contributing to a thread (You know about this)
  4. "My Posts" list shows all of the threads that I have contributed to and accurately shows if I have read them or not
  5. I CAN receive a notification to a thread if I check the notification checkbox before I post to the thread.
  6. The checkbox is not pre-checked on subsequent page loads though. Rechecking the thread gives us an obvious FK exception. (You know about this)
  7. I CAN receive a notification to a thread if I contribute to the thread AFTER number 5.
  8. After the previous few numbers, those threads always appear as read in "My Posts" - even if a new post has been created for the thread.
  9. The post does not always show the most recent post, but the thread summary in the forum will accurately (I think) show the number of posts and the last user to post.

The first 3 I know for sure that you know about - as well as number 6.  Number 4 is expected and intended behavior.  It is just there for context for number 7.  The rest of the items are ones that I am not sure if you know about.
