Hi Folks

Does anyone know how I can configure the default File Manager (normally shown to administrators only) to allow for some other role/group? I have a site admin but want separate folks in an say an editor role to be able to upload as well without having to be a portal admin.

any ideas?

Although, I hope you are aware of the security risk this poses, you could apply this logic to the File Manager:

The module path you would point to in this instance is:

Admin/Files/filemanager.ascx

there is definately a risk is offering access to the file manager to non-admins. users can access all files and grant access to any folder, if you don't modify the module itself.

I was just reading your post looking to do the exact same thing. I need to allow intranet members of a specific role access to the file manager.

Just set the view | edit permissions in the file manager to allow your desired role to edit and view the file manager.

Then you can have a hyper link (from a links module or text/html module) that launches a new window with the following url:

http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx/Providers/HtmlEditorProviders/Fck/fckimagegallery.aspx?FCKTheme=Default&Type=Image&RootFolder=/Portals/6/&CurrentFolder=/

** Be sure to use your domain name or ip address in place of the "x"'s

Seems to work great... if a user not a member of the file managers edit permissions clicks the link, the photo gallery is popped open without the upload stuff...

Are there any draw backs to doing it this way?
