I upgraded from 4.5.3 to 4.7 - all went well until I tried to log in as the host. I seem to longer exist - won't let me log in using the HOST OR ADMIN using my UN and PW. I tried registering as a new user - no problem there. The site just can't see my host and admin stuff. Tried the Email Me password and it can't find me. No joy there.

Procedure - used the "Upgrade" zip and did the usual copy and past login codes in the web.config. All others codes seemed to be fine. I totally stuck here on how to get into my site.

Clue anyone?

John

PS: Why is an Upgrade package available if everyone says don't use it?

did you copy machine key from old web.config?

Upgrade package is intended for users, who do not want to upgrade the modules included.

I only use the upgrade package for my portal upgrades, I do not use the install packages. The only time I didn't was when I went from 3.x to 4.x with an upgrade.

I have seen the error at random, and on a site with no PNG fix script, no AJAX, no forums, no skin specific js either. As I said, it is very random.

I am getting this error repeatedly on a fresh new machine, with a single instance of 4.7. I have added a single 3rd party module (Datasprings Dynamic Registration) and it is consistent and repeatable.

Ironically it is working fine on a 32bit box, using the same files, and Connection String and not working in a Virtual Machine 64bit. I am assuming it must be releated to the environement and not just the Files / Database.

Both are running Full Trust.
