I built a custom module based off of the "GuestBook" example module and just changed some fields, tables, and file names.  The module should be working perfectly.  Everything compiles fine.

I can also see the module that has all the fields that I fill to populate a table.  Once I submit the form, however, I get the following error...

A critical error has occurred.
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

I am really perplexed about this issue since I built another module today and received the same error.  What is the best way to debug since neither compiling or debuging come up with any errors?

I'm answering this because it comes up when you do a Google search for this error.

see:Answers to Common Module Development Errors

Error:

Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation ...

Answer:

If you have code that calls the database, ensure that a value is being returned fron the databse. Otherwise you will get this error.
