how would 2 modules communicate with each other? is there a stanard way to do this? any best practices?

if both modules are on same page, you can use IMC (inter module comunication). Look into the developer guide available from Documentation page in Resources menu above for details.

And how can Module  communicate if they are not on the same page. Would you use session variables?

session variables do not work in web farm environments, you usually use query string parameters or database table entries.

Let’s say that I want to pass a product code from one module to the other with modules being placed on different DNN pages.  One module (in one DNN Page) identifies the product . The user invokes the other module via the DNN Menu. How can I add such Querystring parameters to the Page(Tab) invocation?

Are there any examples out there?

What if I need to pass more than a string (an object)?
