I think this is along the same idea that this thread is talking about. How would I create a column that returns the record number? Like If my paging is set to 10 records, then the first column would contain the numbers 1-10.

I would solve that in XSL using <xsl:value-of select="position()"/>

This would be good except that I currently use a grid table. Is there no way to do it using a calculated column?

No. One solution would be a new data type record number. But that would be really harder than writing your own xsl stylesheets.
