Hi, Is it possible to link the Events Module to an existing Outlook Calendar? The goal here is to manage only one calendar system, rather than adding/editing events in Outlook, then doing it again in the Events Module. Can one be exported to the other?

Thanks! Mike

Hi Mike.  This is definitely a feature that we will implement within the next release.  This feature has been requested by many.  Currently, the latest version supports export of a single event...but there are several things that need to happen in order for a more full up integration with Outlook.  This is high on our list!

Thanks a lot for the quick response. Two easy questions for you…1) When does this next release come out? And 2) Where can I learn about the details of what can currently be done with Outlook (i.e. exporting a single event as you mentioned)?

Thank you, and keep up the impressive customer service!

Mike

If you go into a Calender detail page, you should see a 'Export to Personal Calendar' link and icon. This will let you download a .vcs file which can be imported into Outlook (just open it).

I found with this file that if you have any content in the calendar entry other than a fairly simple line of text, Outlook complains it can't open the file. Consequently I have simplified what the calendar put into the file to just being a link to my calendar entry (not ideal). I think the problem is to do with the html formatting, and line breaks, but I didn't get to the bottom of it. You can have a look at my site (link in my profile) at the calendars on home page/social/diving calendar for samples of what I have done. Click on one of the events, and you'll see the link - there's no localization in my version of the calendar yet, I'm awaiting the next source release from Alan for that.

Hope this helps
Roger

Thanks Roger.  I'll check into it and see if I can get the HTML Export into Outlook working.  Alan
