Hi all,

I've seen this one around the forums for a long time and I'm sure I've seen it in Gemini, but here it is again just to see if others are experiencing the same issue.

Every now and then some of my portals (all subportals in the same DNN 4.7 instance) will lose their logo graphics. I then have to go into each site and manually re-apply the logo setting in the Admin, Site Appearance section.

Eventually I noted that it had something to do with editing a sub portal's settings via the Host, Portals page rather than directly within each site. For example I had just been through all portals there and set the site history to a new value. Next thing I know, the sites were losing their header logos.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that the site settings page reached via the host, portals page, doesn't by default display the location and file name of the current logo file. In fact, if the logo has already vanished from the sub portal, the settings page here won't even show any files at all in the portal. They've all vanished.

However, when one visits the portal's own settings page by signing in directly, the logo setting does show the correct file. If the logo has vanished then it can be re-applied here. Sometimes I might have to manually sync the filemanager to make things appear and I've been running a scheduled file-sync to try and stop this happening.

It's all a bit confusing... so, does anyone else get this problem?

Rob

Rob, on which DNN version are you observing this?

Hi ebastian,

This is on 4.7, but it has happened with earlier versions... going back over the past year or so.

I only recently connected it to the action of changing sub portal site settings via Host, Portals, and then the individual sites.

Before now I always thought that the file manager was somehow losing sync because the portal file managers could sometimes no longer see any  files until I manually re-synced each portal. Having a scheduled sync every day seems to help that a bit. Perhaps this is still connected to the issue, I don't know.

Rob,

can you try to verify, if there is a different value stored inside portal settings table, using each method? I am not aware of any background task altering host settings, so the issue must appear during save or it is sth totally different (chaching issue e.g.).

Hi Sebastian... does the feedback form on this page reach you:
http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/Feedback/tabid/111/Default.aspx

I'm using that form to send you a link to a clip I've made that demonstrates it all very well.
