I have discovered that .org alias don't work (or I'm dumb) in dnn 4.  Using .com works just fine but when I give a portal a .org alias it sends you to the main portal (which is probably a result of sending the dns A record to the site IP address.)  The site I am attempting this is ventureexpeditions.com.  It works now simply because I've put a redirect script on the main portal so that when the .org alias fails and leads to the ip address it gets sent to the child portal... however, this is not near a permanent fix.  Any ideas?

It sounds like something is setup wrong. I've been using gmss.org with DNN for years.

Do you have the .org alias set as a portal alias for the proper portal?

Yup, it's on two parent portals all on the same DNN install. The host portal (0) is pointing to http://www.gmss.org and then the other (I think it's 1 under the portals directory) is a parent portal pointing to http://dnn.gmss.org. In IIS I've got a separate websites setup using host headers to point so the DNN knows which portal to load.

Yes, I believe I have everything set up all right.  I'll just give you a run down of my setup:

I have 3 portals on this installation of DNN.

The first and 3rd portals both have .com domains and everything functions properly.  The second portal has .com, .org and .info domains all pointing to it.  The way I get .com domains to function is by first adding the domain in the respective portal to the portals aliases.  I then go to the DNS of the domain and change the A record to point to my websites static IP.  This procedure works beautifully for .com but .org doesn't respond.  Of course the domain will make it to the IP because DNS forces it to but the portal doesn't pick it up after that.

Is that the same procedure you adopt or is there an easier way?
