Hello everybody,

I'm creating a module. I've got a stored procedure to which I pass a DateTime value. The parameter is

@MyDate datetime

This line cause me an error:

@sql = @sql +

' AND v.StartDate <= '+ CONVERT(VARCHAR,@MyDate) + ' AND v.EndDate >= ' + CONVERT(VARCHAR,@MyDate) + ' '

The error is

Incorrect syntax near '1'

Can anyone help me? Where is the error? I've not much experience in stored procedure...

hi,

if @MyDate, v.StartDate and v.EndDate are of type  DateTime, then try:

select * from mytable

where @MyDate between v.StartDate and v.EndDate

Hello Jarle,

yes they are all DateTime. I've tried but it doesn't work. The problem is that I have to store the sql instructions in a varchar variable, named @sql. At the end of the store procedure I do an

exec(@sql)

Now, if I have a number I use the convert and it works. For example:

SET

@sql = @sql + ' AND v.DownloadSize >= '+ CONVERT(VARCHAR,@Size)

But if I have a datetime, how can I do?

Thanks.

I've solved the problem with

SET

@sql = @sql + ' AND v.EndDate < ''' + CONVERT(VARCHAR(20),@MyDate,100) + ''''

do NOT convert dates to strings for comparisons and do not compare dates with strings.
