How do I fix this server error:

The path '/AppName/App_GlobalResources/' maps to a directory outside this application, which is not supported.

This is on a development site that I have been working on for several weeks. I plan to migrate to a production server this week. I am also new to asp.net, dotnetnuke, and Visual Web Developer. The site is running as a directory under the default website on IIS on a Windows 2000 system.

In troubleshooting this problem, I attempted to create another dotnetnuke website at a parallel location also as a directory under the default website on IIS. The new dotnetnuke website coughed up the same error.

This is the second occurence in the past two weeks of this error message. I was able to recover from the previous instance -- but I don't know what I did then to correct the problem.

I found a fix:

There was an extraneous \ character in the local path definition for the default web site in IIS. Under "Default Web Site Properties" on the "Home Directory" tab the local path was defined as "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\" when it should have been "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot" (no trailing slash character). Removing the trailing slash fixed the problem.
