Hi all,

I am using dnn 4.7.  Going through the skinning guide I found the following sentence.

"Every skin user control must reference a common skin.vb. code-behind file stored in the \admin\Skins folder. This file performs all of the skin processing for managing security and injecting content."

But i am not able to find any such file in the whole solution directory. All the skins seem to refer to this file in the .ascx file but it is nowhere to be found. Can somebody help??

I think it's compiled into one of the DLLs. If you want to have a look at the source code, you'll have to download the DNN source package.

Hi,

Actually I am working with the source package downloaded from the dotnetnuke site. I was able to install the source package into  a website as per the instructions. But I did not find any file of the name skin.vb in the whole solution directory or in any of its subdirectories.

Thanks in advance,
Harish

In an older source code package (don't know which version, 4.4.? or so), I found it in Library/Components/Skins/. I guess it's still in that directory, but I cannot tell for sure. And because I never really worked with the source, I cannot say how to include that file into a project.

I'm in the same boat and have just loaded the V4.8.0 source . Have just bought the book "Beginning DotNetNukeSkinning and Design". Chapter 4 details the basics of skin files, and refers to his location. Yet the file does not exist. Everything works, but I want to understadn how the class file is referenced - as it obviously exists in another location - being Library/Components/Skins.

While I can ignore the error, I woud like to understand why it works with the incorrect reference.
