I am unable to delete ANY page from my portal. Clicking admin->pages and then selecting a page and pressing delete always results in an error message: "can't delete a page that is set as a login, start page, etc..." . Though the pages aren't set like that. I get the message with every page. This is on a local dotnetnuke installation using Visual Web Developer Express 2005 with build-in SQL express.

I've looked all over the internet for this problem, but am unable to find an answer. Any help is much appreciated!

Wow!  I have never heard of this one happening before. Have you checked the database values for the tabs (pages) that you currently have on your DNN instance?  Check in the Portals table in the database and make sure that the LoginTabId field for the portal is Null.  Then restart the application to reload the cache.  Since a portal can technically only have a single page specified as the login page, this sounds like a cache problem.

Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid that I am very new to working with databases. I've only recently started using dotnetnuke and have implemented my own skin succesfully, but that is where most of my knowledge ends . I'm trying to learn as much as I can as I go along.

I have checked the database in visual web developer express and the LoginTabId has the Nullable property set to True. I suppose this is what you meant? Restarting the application also didn't fix it. I did create a custom login page, but removing that didn't help either.

Gijs,

go to SQL in Host menu and enter

SELECT * FROM {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}Portals

to get all portal settings. Check oth the ..Tab fields to be Null

Yes they are null. I also compared this to that of a default dnn installation (in which deleting pages is working fine) and it looks exactly the same.
