Hi Mike,

Yeah, i tryed that too. Also did a re-index under search admin. I haven't had any problems with RSS until now, so some of the symptoms you mentioned, i haven't seen. And i totally agree, i am Banging my head against the wall with this one.  ;)

I am re-building my dev box now, and will look into it more in a few days.

Ok, I have spent some more time on this, and found this issue in the log file:

AssemblyVersion: 03.02.02
Method: DotNetNuke.Modules.Repository.RepositoryController.GetSearchItems
FileName:
FileLineNumber: 0
FileColumnNumber: 0
PortalID: 0
PortalName: FSAlliance
UserID: 1
UserName: Host
ActiveTabID: 29
ActiveTabName: Search Admin
AbsoluteURL: /Default.aspx
AbsoluteURLReferrer: http://www.fsalliance.net/Host/Search%20Admin/tabid/29/portalid/0/Default.aspx
ExceptionGUID: 84268d06-df5f-4df8-8a3f-edfdcad1696e
DefaultDataProvider: DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider
InnerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Message: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Repository.RepositoryController.GetSearchItems(ModuleInfo ModInfo) at DotNetNuke.Services.Search.ModuleIndexer.GetSearchIndexItems(Int32 PortalID)
StackTrace:
Source:
Server Name: WSS02

It seems that the Repository is not being included in the Search indexing which means the RSS is not being updated (Search indexing and RSS are tied together in DNN from what I understand).  I went ahead and cleared my Search tables and re-indexed the site, and now nothing from the repository is included .... No Search items or RSS at all.

I found alot of interesting info on DNN Search here

For those of you that RSS is working, is your New Files or Links being added since upgrading to 3.1.8 shown in your RSS Feeds?

Thanks,

Gary

Gary,
Thanks for the info.. a bug was introduced in 3.01.08 which broke the ability to search the repository using the core search function ( and therefore the RSS feed as well )

The February release is primarily a documentation release + critical bug fixes. This will be fixed in the Feb release ( scheduled for the end of Feb or 1st week of March )

Thanks again for the detailed info .. it helped.

Thanks Steve,

I was thinking it was something i had done or another issue on my site, so i kept digging as to what was going on. I knew about the bug already, but i wasn't sure if this was causing my feed to break. Now i know, and feel better.

Thanks again,

Gary

I find it kind of interesting that I cannot get any of my RSS modules to work, core RSS News module or any of added modules, except the RSS repeater at http://www.tarrantit.com/dotnetnuke/RSS3D/tabid/130/Default.aspx, which works.

Respectfully Submitted

Don
