Friends,

I have a parent portal which I want to put up an 'under construction' type contact page while working on the DNN site. I know how to use site settings, splash page, but it only allows you to choose a page within the portal. This then gives the visitor access to the site through the menu structure. I want it to point to an app_offline.htm file. Placing one in the portal/1/ root does not work. neither does a default .htm in that portal root. What should I do to have a non-DNN splash page for that parent portal?

Thanks in advance,

Will Sugg

put a default.htm in the root folder and add default.htm as first default document in IIS web site configuration.

User can still access your site using the full address of a page though.

Thanks Sebastian,

The thing is that I have the 'root' installation as www.thewebsite.com and a parent portal off of that as www.theotherwebsite.com. So if I put that default.htm file in the root the thewebsite.com will show the 'under construction' page when it is actually theotherwebsite.com that is under construction.

What I did was create a skin file with references to the menu structure deleted, then applied that skin to my splash page (the one with the 'under construction' message). That way I can access the home page to login through the tabid\default.aspx link.

Thanks,

Will
