if you have direct access to the database, using SSM Tools (www.ssmstoolspack.com)for SQL Server Management Studio), you may perform a search and replace in the database.

Well everyone, there have been some changes in DNN5.6.X and pro version... if you use such Find and Replace tools they will only break.

Here is what i found out.

The issue  that a namespace was changed from Html to HtmlPro.  There have been quite a few "small" changes like that since the HTML Pro module showed up. Special thanks from Engage for this one

And also from DNN support directly:

1) Column name: The column name in HtmlText.DesktopModule is changed to DesktopModule.Content.
2) New column: There is a new column ItemID introduced to provide versioning feature in the module.

So if you use such modules... better RE-WRITE THEM... or you are up a creek when you do a migration and need to change TextHtml content throughout your site while using DNN 5.6.x versions.

Could i suggest that such a tool be added to the DNN core in the next release?

Hi,

Since 2005, it is around this DNN Search and Replace tool http://www.evotiva.com/Modules/DNNSea...
It can perform search and replace operations not only on Text/HTML modules, but in ANY table. It is relatively easy to configure additional table/column pairs for it to work with.

In 2009 I've said "We plan to pack this utility as a DNN Module, and we will add additional features.". Well, it's 2011 and this is still just a standalone aspx page, but it works fine (it was now updated to support the Text/HTML columns change). We still plan (some day) to make this a regular module, where the table/column pairs would be easier to configure.

Thanks,
Horacio.-
