An odd problem occured yesterday out of nowhere. When logged in as host there is no module content except under admin and host pages. The modules are there with titles, but the content is completely gone. The module menus are there but do not include module specific menu options such as "edit text" for the html module and other module specific functions like that. Also, the host file manager does not show any files, but the admin file manager does. The files are available in sections like choosing the website logo, all the portal root files are listed there just fine.
This does not occur when not logged in and it does not occur when logged in as admin. Only when logged in as host.
It seems like a permissions setting, but nothing was changed on the web host level, and nothing was changed on the website that would effect permissions. A feed was deleted from a news feed module, but that shouldn't have caused any problems. A new feed was installed, but deleted to see if it was the culprit and it was not.
It's very odd and perplexing.
Under Host Settings, the "permissions" field is blank on this website. On another website that is working, it does show some permissions in that field.
Is this something with DNN or has my web host done something without telling me about it? Using DNN 4.6.2 on a shared host plan at GoDaddy.com. The client is seriously considering closing that account and moving to a new web host because of the extremely poor tech support (GoDaddy tech support answer questions, but generally not the question you asked, they seem to make up a question for you and give an answer to that question instead or if they do answer your question the answer is more often incorrect than correct) and because of the lack of functionality at that host. It wouldn't surprise me if it is a Godaddy issue of some kind, but I'm not sure. I know the client didn't change anything with the host account, they have their son handle that and he's been out of the country for the past month.
Can anyone direct me where to look next or what to look at next?
Thanks,
Rick
