I'm a big fan of Active Forums myself but who really knows what it would do if it got hammered as hard as this forum does.
Point well taken; but nearly all of these problems are also happening on users' personal sites, as well...with little or no traffic. I had a myriad of problems with the lists and permissions and the like on my install and I had only my test posts in the forums...no load whatsoever. It lasted 48 hours (because I really wanted to make it work) on my site before I uninstalled them). To be brutally honest, I am since learned that there's more to a great forum platform besides fancy icons. I love Will's forums nearly as much as I love the new PHPBB3 forums that were just released. Wow is all I can say. Simply wow. Wow.
Moreover, it also doesn't explain the lack of response from the powers to be on these matters, either...numerous emails sent in from people with an inability to post; the forums forum is often a ghost town. The problems keep surfacing and the community is told that all these known issues will be addressed in the next release, though the first one took months and months and months and months and....
I wouldn't expect a rush release getting the outstanding issues fixed at the individual level in the form of a new module release, but I would think it's in the best interest of the Corporation to at least fix their forums so they are operable and make a more positive first and lasting impressions on new people who come to see what DNN is all about.
But I digress...and come down off my soapbox about the forums.
I do love DNN and the feel the core is pretty damn slick and solid. I just think there are weakness in some of the project areas that have been known for awhile and, in the interest of the community and the entire project, should be addressed....
(ps...got the index range error when I clicked on the 6th and last page of this thread; last error I report on. You guys are going it alone from here on out). :)
Terp and his Snowcovered money stream is signing out....Good luck and god bless.
