Can I set this module where certain user groups can add/approve submissions and other users can only view? For example set it where those in the registered users group can only view but a group called 'moderator' and 'manager' can add/approve entries as well?

In a nutshell what I need is a calendar/events module to allow staff scheduling. So my staff can enter what hrs/days they work so its visable by other staff and site visitors. However I only want those in the various staff security groups to be allowed to put in calendar entires. And visitors/registered users (non-staff) to only view them and not beable ot submit anything.

I can't seem to find a option to allow the default DNN calendar/event module to do this? If it can't does anyone know a module that can (Thats reasonably priced)?

Hi There Strauss.

I have the same question but with a bit of a twist. Im trying to get the module to be open to the public to edit and add events.. this does not sound to hard to do, i think.

Lets hope they answer your request so that we can get this resolved..

Normally you would assign module edit rights to the role that you want to let edit the module - and in this case, add events. This is the same for most modules.

To allow anyone at all to edit the module, there is the unauthenticated role.

A basic answer for this would unfortunately be no.  The events module is pretty "basic" when it comes to that sort of functionality.

I ended up writing my own events module for our company calendar because we had to get some pretty intense logic going in there.  "Major" details of our implementation is found in this thread (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/140927/scope/posts/threadpage/2/Default.aspx) but in a nutshell I added logic for events to be created, then have multiple types of "signup" ability (manager approval, self-signup, manager signup only, no signup), event reminders, etc.  I just took the module up again today and am working on adding a lot of new functionality as well as AJAXifying it to make it a lot more smooth.

Unfortunately I can't provide the module for "purchase" and it is pretty custom to our own needs otherwise I'd post up some source somewhere... but if you have questions I'd be happy to answer them.

There may be other event modules out there to handle this sort of thing though.  I dunno, maybe if I ever can convince to myself to invest the time, I'll write one for the DNN public.
