I do not know if this is possible, but I figured I may as well ask.  I am learning to build a DNN 4.7 site and have it installed on my laptop (http://localhost/DNN_4_7).  This laptop has access to our local area network (8 machines) and gets internet access through this network.  Now that the platform has been approved for our new website, I need to actually build a site with real content on the laptop for demonstration to a large group of people in February.  I do not want to host a 'live' site until March or April of next year, so would like to keep the development on the laptop.  Is it possible to for other machines on my local network to access the DNN website on the laptop?  It would be very slick and save a lot fo time if I could break people up into groups to go play with the site (while it is still local and not hosted on the web), as this would give them all a chance to play around and get a feel for what the final product will look like in a short amount of time (it could take hours to have one person at a time playing around).  So, before I spend a lot of time on this idea, is it possible?  If so, any suggestions on how I do it?

If you know your IP addres and there are no firewall issues then you can simply add your IP address to your portal aliases and then others should be able to get to the site.

If you are using DHCP  then its a little trickier but you would do it via the computer name on your network...

Yes you can and it is VERY easy to do.

First you will want to figure out how you want people to access it.  Your options are    http://<yourIp>/DNN_4_7/ or http://<yourpcname>/DNN_4_7/ Depending on the name of your PC it might be easier to distribute the IP address (IF your IP is static on your network).

Once you determine what will be used, then login as host to your site and open the Site Settings (Under the admin menu)

At the very bottom portal aliases are listed, add a new alias for which ever method you use.  The alias does NOT include the http:// portion of the URL.  So the entry for an ip of 192.168.1.172 would be

192.168.1.172/DNN_4_7

Or for a computername of 67RSSSPC

67RSSSPC/DNN_4_7

You guys are heros!  Once I realized I had to modify my firewall settings to allow network computers to access the Web (HTTP), it worked!  THanks a bunch!!!!!!
