Hi all,

I can't seem to create any child portals.

after creating them in the host->portals page, they seem to be created OK and I can see the folder that was created in the VS

as well as in the portals page.

but I can't accses them. all I get is a 404 page.

has any body experienced this?

how is this solved?

Hi, child portals should work well under DNN 4.7 since I have created them many times.

Due to the 404 response code, I think you may wrongly set the portal alias. Remember if you need to access the proal remotely, you must append some protal alias for those portals, since the default redirect you to localhost. For example, if your parent portal's address is xxx.xxx.189.248/parentPortal/, you may use xxx.xxx.189.248/parentPortal/childPortal as your child portal alias.

Hi Ricky,

Thanks for the quick response.

this is what I do but I can't resolve this issue.

I'v tried to do this on 3 different computers in 3 versions od DNN (4.6 to 4.8) and still get the same result.

I can see, in the solution folders that a new portal was created and I also see the portal folder with the default.aspx inside it. but I can't

seem to see it in any browser.

I'm using the local host as my parent for now - maybe this is the problem?

I am having the exact same problem, using DNN 4.08.00,  Visual Web Developer 2008 Express, IE 6.  I can create the child portals (mapmyphotos) and see the folders, but cannot bring up the website:  http://localhost:4078/dotnetnuke_04.08.00_install/mapmyphotos.   Getting "Cannot find server or DNS Error".

The default DNN site at:  http://localhost:4078/dotnetnuke_04.08.00_install  works fine.
