First of all forgive me if I’m overlooking a simple setting.

But I need help on this one.

I have a template that has a special skin that i've set for the Home page only and a separate Skin for the content areas.

THE ISSUE IS. When the user clicks links to the Privacy or Terms of Use pages, these pages come up with the skin designated for only the Home page instead of picking up the default content skin pages which I’ve set in the Portal Skin under Site Settings>Appearance drop down

How do I force the Privacy and or Terms of Use pages to pick up the default skin and not the home page skin?

Is there a setting or a work around for in the data base I can check?

Thanks and please advise.

The privacy and terms of use links create urls that use the ctl override in the querystring (creating URLS like .../ctl/Terms/... and .../ctl/Privacy/...).  When this method is used to override what is shown on a specific page, the admin skin is used.  You will either need to set your admin skin to be the same are your subpage skin, or you will need to create pages for privacy and terms of use, and then link to those instead of using the skin tokens.

Hope that helps,

Another way to deal with this, which I'm told that many people do, is to not use the DNN tokens etc. but to create your own TOS and Privacy pages and link to them in the footer or wherever you want. It's tedious, but you have much more control over the presentation than with DNN's tokenized text etc.

This is the route I have taken, because I like to provide custom print/download icons and have better control with the page skin/layout.

However, since these two items (Privacy, Terms of Use) are built into DNN already, wouldn't you think DNN should allow for a little more flexibility than just inserting them on the same skin as the homepage?

I guess I'd just like to get some reasoning to understand why things are the way they are, instead of them being more customizable. Seems very inconsistent with the scope of "the rest" of DNN.

By the way...Privacy Policies and Terms of Use statements have been the hot topic with 90% of my clients over the past 2 years, and as I judge, a high priority with the rest of the industry as well. It'd be nice if these items received a little more attention than what they seem to be getting.

you can remove the skin objects for both pages and create content pages containing the texts - which shall be adopted to your portal's needs anyway!
