I am in the process of setting up a local test DNN site to test the upgrade of a 4.55 upgrade to 4.80. I wanted to refresh my memory on the steps it took and make sure the skins and everything worked properly before upgrading the production site for my client.

I configured my Server 2003 R2 IIS to be the following

    local path c:\dotnetnuke

application name:        DotNetNuke_4

Starting point     :        <default web site>\Dotnetnuke_4

now, the site installed find and i can access it with HTTP://localhost/dotnetnuke_4/ for the install and any site config. If i add the www.myurlsite.com to the HTTP alais, it will not access the site. IF i add www.myurlsite.com/dotnetnuke_4 to the HTTP alais table, it accesses the site fine with the URL. What am i missing? I would prefer to keep the main www.myurlsite.com and not have to put the suffix on but i have been at it the whole day and know i am overlooking something. I have tried removing the application name but i thought i remember reading that IIS needed something in there? Any post holiday help is greatly appriciated.

Thank you,

Dean

www.myurlsite.com points to the IIS web root, one folder above DNN.  Install DNN in the root instead of a subfolder.
