Is there any way to remove or alter the Pane titles that you can see when you go into edit mode?

I have a very tight layout, and the titles are becoming a problem. when I go into edit mode, the layout becomes destroyed, you cant make out a single thing. I work for a company who isnt very good at design.

SO is this possible, i mean within the sourcecode? If not is it possible to give the Panes a scrollbar if they are too large when  the title is displayed?

I've asked this as well previously but no result. it's definitely not very good that they occupy two full lines and I would also like to be able to make them much smaller and not bolded without affecting other items on the page.

I think the pane names need two things..

  1. A class for styling the names
  2. The break tag that follows them removed

That would let us remove, or style and pad them in a more appropriate manner.

The only tip I have for now is to make the names small. Right=R, Left=L. You don't have to use ful names like "RightPane".

Let me know if you find an easy place to alter the code itself.

the closest thing I could do to make it work with a tight layout, was to use divs for the content panes, and give them an overflow:auto styling. It seemed to work, as in maintaining the layout in edit mode. I also found this:

          <name>RightPane</name>
          <modules>
            <module>
              <moduleID>375</moduleID>
              <title>Sponsors</title>
              <cachetime>3600</cachetime>
              <alignment>center</alignment>
              <color />
              <border />
              <iconfile />
              <alltabs>

Maby its possible to edit this and take out the names? or change them, i think this file : \DotNetNuke_04.08.00_Install\Portals\_default\dotnetnuke.template

is used when the framework is being installed. I'm not sure, but its a possibility to check it out?

That's just the names of the panes in the default template. You can change them afterwards in the various skin ascx files.. just look for the id="pamename" attributes for the panes and change them as you wish. I use shortened names like "R" and L" if the skin needs it... but it still doesn't let me get rid of the linebreak after each.

Note of course that all modules will jump to the Contentpane if you change the names of the other panes, so you have to put them back afterwards. Also note that you have to have one pane called ContentPane.
