I've been trying to make the AJAX toolkit work in DNN.  I've downloaded the Microsoft Examples and made them work. Any attempts to weave my code into DNN fails with ERROR METHOD 500 on the CascadingDropDowns.  I've researched this for days and can't find where anyone has made this work.  Everyone seems to post that they have the same issues in DNN that I have.  From what I can tell, this is tied to the ScriptManager that is pre-existing in DNN.  I've added code to my codebehind to register another scriptmanager but it doesn't work.

Does anyone know how to build a cascadingdropdown box in using AJAX in DNN?  If so, can you provide code examples?

I don't think the problem is with the scriptmanager. I think the problem is probably with the Doc Type. This is why the Modal popup doesn't work. You have to change the Doc type to get it to work.

to make PopupControlExtender work properly you have to set the scroll position as described here:

http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/Misc/Dotnetnuke_AJAX_ControlToolkit.htm

See this link for help on the Doc type issues:

uuhh... i've already read those pages.  I've already done that example.  It works.  My question above is about CascadingDropDowns not working.  This has nothing to do with the popupcontrolextender.  I followed the code examples for the AJAX Control Toolkit here:

http://www.asp.net/AJAX/AjaxControlToolkit/Samples/CascadingDropDown/CascadingDropDown.aspx

It works.  Then when i take the code out of these examples and attempt to port it into a DNN module, it breaks.  The first CascadingDDL populates from my xml file and the remaining two show ERROR METHOD 500.  If I remove the code from DNN it runs, if i put it in DNN it doesnt.  From my reading, DNN already has a script manager built in somewhere so when my page uses it again, i get the error about only having one script manager on a page.  This error and situation is documented elsewhere on this and numerous other sites.  NO ONE seems to have gotten CascadingDropDowns to work in DNN from my Googling.   I've read about declaring the scriptmanager in CS code, putting ajax variables in my web.config, etc.

again i'll ask.   HAS ANYONE MADE  AJAX CASCADING DROP DOWNS WORK IN DNN?  If so do you have a code example.

I did not succeed... :(

An idea maybe?: use Fiddler to see where the AJAX  calls go... i dot'n know...? due to lack of time of trying this I have replaced the Cascadind DD from the PopupExtender with a simple panel (that woks! :D ) ... but it's not the same...
