I am having a few problems installing Dotnetnuke on Win  2000 advanced server with sql server 2000, i am running .net 2.0 framework

am currently getting the following error when i try to run \\localhost\dotnetnuke

 

Server Error in '/Dotnetnuke' Application.

Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

Same thing here, although I am on a remote site. My host said they set up everything on their side as I asked 'em to per the .pdf.

From what I understand, you get this error if you do not have 'Scripts Only' selected in IIS.  Either that or you are not specifying DotNetNuke as the running application.  I forget which.  Now if someone could help answer my question...

Go  into the IIS manager and see if the directory has a folder icon next to it.  If if does then you VD is not setup as an application.  To fix this simple go into the properties of the VD (Directory tab).  Click the create button in the application section and either use the default name or enter your own application name.  When you view the VD list again you will notice the icon has changed next to the directory.  This should take care of this problem.
