Hello,

I'm trying to install dot net nuke for the first time on windows xp w/ sql server 2005(using windows integrating security) and I'm getting stuck on the section of installation called "Run Database Installation Scripts".  I test the connection to the database on the previous step and it connects fine.  When it gets to "The installation of the database scripts should have started when this page loaded. The Next button will be disabled until the Installation of the Scripts is complete." part, no scripts are run and the next button is automatically active, but when I click it nothing happens.  Only a handful of stored procedures get added when I look at the database and only one table, "Version" gets added.

Is there a way to manually install the database?  I'm using DotNetNuke_04.08.00, any tips on getting this working would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Firstly, I don't have a complete solution for you. But what permissions are assigned to the user that you are logging into the database under? Have you tried connecting to the database in Management Studio and running a few create table or create proc statements?

thanks,

Thanks for the tip.  I've been able to create tables and stored procedures in SQL management studio.  I think there's a problem with Install/InstallWizard.aspx  I didn't notice it until I tried to run the installation in Internet Explorer.  It says object not found, line 106 and wants to debug.  I'm going to try installing an older version and see how that goes.  Thanks for replying.

Currents - I had the same issue, and posts here mentioned something about the database permissions just not being right.  This is problably because (since I've been creating logins in MSSQL for years) I created the login the way I always have, which worked for other apps but evidently not DNN.

Then I found this step-by-step:  http://seablick.com/blog/tabid/53/articletype/articleview/articleid/71/a-newbies-guide-to-installing-dotnetnuke.aspx, followed it to a "T", and I was good to go.

HTH.

If you've gotten to the point where the script seems to stall ...

Stop the install and edit your web.config so that installation doesn't use the wizard.  I set two keys in web.config like this:

    < add key="AutoUpgrade" value="false" / >
    < add key="UseInstallWizard" value="false" / >

Then restart DotNetNuke and browse to the /install/install.aspx page.  The installation should continue and finish.
