Good questions DV. I had only tried as it happens with IE7. Just tried with FF and FCK won't even let me enter the edit box, i.e. I can't place a cursor in there (this is diff to IE, which let me enter text, but it wasn't saved). However, when I switch to Basic Text Box (with FF), I can add text and it is saved (same as IE7). Also, in the same editing session, once I enter text with Basic Text Box and then (i.e. before update) switch to Rich Text Editor, I can edit stuff in the box, but only the text entered with the Basic Text Box is saved.

I also updated to RC11 on my local host test installation and the same things happen. Am I the only person experiencing this? Strange that it happens for me on the Windows XP Pro localhost (using SQL Express) and also the same in a shared hosted environment (using SQL 2000).

Jeff, sorry for the delay in responding, it's just that I can't duplicate your issue, and I'm not doing anything special with the text editor. Maybe you might have better luck contacting the FCKEditor folks and see if they have any ideas? I'll keep looking but I'm not sure that the solution is going to be found within the Repository module.

No worries Steve. At least now I know it has something to do with my config - perhaps even the client PCs (x2) that I can see the problem with. Am not sure the problem is with FCK, as the editor works well in every other part of the web-sites, including with the descriptions for repository items - just not with the description of the repository itself. As it happens I'm successfully using the RTE in entering this post using one of the PCs that exhibit the error.

Anyway, I now need to work out a way of fixing it. Am willing to pay. Anyone interested? Reloading from backup is now not an option as too much time has passed (and changes to other parts of the main production site) since the upgrade was done - everything else is working fine. I have a test site in a shared hosted environment that can be accessed from the internet and has the same problem. Please email me at jeff dot parker at valintus dot com.

Looks like something broke in 4.8.0. The Repository isn't the only module experiencing this issue..

We'll keep you posted. The difference is that not many modules use the richtext editor in a 'settings'-type page which inherits from a different bas class than the normal view or edit pages

OK. I found a work-around. I don't yet know WHY this is broken, or WHY this fixes it...

Go to the Host->Host Settings page
In the Other Settings section .. clear the checkbox for 'Enable AJAX"

go back and now your changes to the Repository description field will be saved when you use the Rich-Text Editor.
