hello,

Ive been getting mutiple responses from AD users that they cannot log into the website using their AD credentials.

Ive tested it and indeed it seems random but for some reasons about 30 % of the users are not logged in.

This is happening since the 1st release of AD provider and is still happening with the .3 beta release.

Luckily since the newer releases the log actually reports something ( it didnt do that with the initial release)

The users in question are users who are new to the website ( and the dnn db) but are users who existed in AD for years :)

Hope someone can give me a lead on where to search for the problem.

Can you do me a favor and translate the InnerException and the first part of the Message into English. I tried a couple of babelfish pages but they didn't work properly.

Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password :)

and yes the credentials are correct as ive set them accordingly. :)

Thanks for the translation.

Some things to check and maybe a couple of questions

Are the users logging in manually? I'm guessing that you've attempted to login on their behalf and are using the Window Signin button and entering their usernames as Domain\UserName if they are (that's what you meant by "the credentials are correct" right?) so the next thing I'd ask is how long are their passwords? By default the password has to be seven characters long and this is set in the web.config (minPasswordLength). If you haven't changed that and their passwords are less (our AD only requires six where I work) then manual logins will fail on new accounts but previous ones will still work. The minimum password length doesn't affect automatic logins though so if you're automatic login (or clicking on a link that goes through WindowSignin.aspx) we'll have to dig deeper.

You were correct !

i had default 7 chars in web.config. and yes it does work now.

Thnx for the superb answer :)
