I just found out about DNN's ability to set the quota for number of users, number of pages, and the disk space from this post. But I'm kinda confused. Does Disk Space here includes all the space that specific portal uses (such as forums post, and all modules content) or is it only files that is uploaded to the server?

Is there anyway to set the disk space quota for all the content of a DNN Portal? And also, is there a way to monitor/display disk space usage of DNN Portal from the host account, including break-down structure of each section's disk space consumption?

Thanks.

disk space means files inside the portals/[portalID] subfolder, any other content is stored in the database and size for it cannot be restricted (calculation would lead into a significant performance decrease). Therefore user and page quota have been added.

You can view the current file usage for the portal under the "Admin - File Manager" section.

So, those DNN Hoster guys can't really limit their child portal's space usage? I understand that probably module's content stored in the database won't take that much, but in the long run or in very very crowded portal, it's gonna be a problem don't you think?

For example, DNN Host set the disk space limit to 10MB. What if the files consumed only 9MB but the module's content itself consumed 2-3MB? So there's no way for DNN Host to find this out?

Thanks.

No, not with a reasonable effort - but IMHO there is no need. A hoster will not have a problem, if a user of a 10MB plan uses 12 MB, only if he uses 20+ MB. But that's what page and user quota are intended for to allow a rough limitation. And, besides, a limitation that does not hurt while e.g. a user is viewing the site and his logging data exceeds database limit.
