Would there be any good and safe way to preload the AD data into DNN?

I haven't tried it but John Hoskins has created a module that I think will let you do that. http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/mid/2108/threadid/113934/scope/posts/Default.aspx

It seems to work to the degree that when they log in for the first time without this tool, they are stored in the database as domain\user. Through the tool they are simply put in as user. In fact it duplicated all users that were already there.

Hi - I had very good luck with Bulk User Manager:

http://marketplace.dotnetnuke.com/p-88-bulk-user-manager24.aspx

I extracted info to a csv file from AD using csvde.  Then, add column names that match your DNN install (you can do an export using Bulk User Manager to see desired format).

csvde -f allusers.csv -u -l SamAccountName,givenName,EmailAddress,sn,telephoneNumber,mobile,Manager,Department,Title,physicalDeliveryOfficeName,mail -d "dc=domain,dc=org" -r "(objectClass=user)"

Hi all,

I'll made a free module for that. At this time I have an external program which synchronise DNN with AD.

(add users, disable deleted users, synchronise dnn roles with AD groups,etc...)
