I got the same error on 1&1 and solved it by dropping all the tables and not doing a Test Connection and just hitting next. It seems when you do a test connection in the installation it creates the table and you the installer can't drop the table when you hit next.

thank u man

i did what u said but i didn't restart the install i went to the db i removed it and added a new one with the same usrname and it worked when i pressed next without the test...

May be Database Owner is different from "dbo", this is why you can't delete it. Need to check "web.config" to be sure that DatabaseOwner is "dbo".

I'm using 1&1 and feel frustrated... I received the same error after painfully trying to get this to work with 1&1. I ended up manually deleting the table that the install wizard created.... then I checked off the checkbox under the user/pass inputs that says something like "login as owner". Then pressed "next" and it installed and upgraded successfully... now I have to worry about adding my old template, old SQL DB, old modules :(
