Well what im trying to do is start a Car Performance Related Site that all in one, I want to have a Huge photo galleries, different galleries for different purposes, one where users can upload their pictures, one for event photos, and so on Video vaults,  video guides to serve as tutorials for installing products, a project section videos, etc same as the photo galleries soo the users can upload videos. I want to have different article sections of news featuring upcoming cars, products, updates, etc... and i would like it if the site shares vbulletin user database being that i have purchased the vbulletin software and all, soo users if they want to register need only to register once and have access to the site and the forums, and be able to set up different memberships levels a free, silver, gold and platinum accounts for users to pay and have greater access to the site, upload more pics, upload more vids, get access to HD video tutorials, etc...

can DotNetNuke be customized to handle the specified above?

I think, you can create this portal with dnn. Core and Third Party modules are available for requirements.

For photos & videos BizModules

For articles & blog Ventrian Systems News Articles module

For Subscription and membership plans > Subscription Tools

But i don't know how to communicate two dbs for single sign up & login.

Regards.

basically dnn will do what you want - dnn uses its own database so you would need to code some interface to the Vbulletin system however DNN can do what vbulletin can do.

DNN has it own forum module but there are sevewral others that are available as dnn modules. The dnn gallery should do what you want it to do. The dnn blog gives you a blog service. You can use the Ventrain Systems news article module and its gallery module. They also have a private messaging system and a subscription system. The Ventrain System modules are available with source they are all available under the one subscription system the cost depends on how long you want support 3months support is about $24 and that covers some 11 modules/skin objects.

The different membership levels is inbuilt in dnn you can use the ventrain subsricption system to collect payments via paypal.

In fact there is no reason why you could not use DNN to actually setup a system such as Vbullentin for your self or provide remote hosted forums using dnn

actually you could do it with dnn and the core modules ( all free} only however if you do a google search on 'dnn modules free' you will find a lot of free modules are available out there. Using the Ventrain modules would set you back around $24 - this would get you the news/article module that can also be used as a blog, the gallery module, the private messaging module and the subscription module plus a few more. You could also use the property agent module for member profiles etc.

Using the core dnn you could easly setup a site selling individual forums and blogs which is basically what vbulletin does. You could do this using the inbuilt permission system of dnn or using sub portals - sub portals would be the best way to go. To interface the vbullentin system into dnn you would use the iframe module which is not the safest way to go and would be like inventing the wheel twice.

Remember that dnn is not a web site it is a framework thus you can do just about any thing you want to do with it. You have to think outside the box to make the best of dnn.
