Edit Module Definitions could use a couple more fields. Assuming this would require some reprogramming of the SQL and related statements. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe it could actually be a custom table of it's own keyed to the official module table... Maybe it already exists, but I didn't notice it.

Here is the long and short of it:

  • Author Custom field 1: Authors name
  • Author Custom field 2: Authors website
  • Author Custom field 3: Misc contact information
  • Author Custom field 4: Author supplied catagory
  • User Defined Field 1: Whatever we want
  • User Defined Field 2: Whatever we want
  • User Defined Field 3: Whatever we want
  • User Defined Field 4: Whatever we want

This way we could structure a module page and break it out by any of that info, rather than a huge list where your favorites are easily lost.

I'm not sure how to handle modules in the control panel from that point. Maybe we could add a catagory drop down(All, DNN Included, Josh Martin, SnowCovered, Onyak Tech etc etc). then the second dropdown populates from the sub-catagories or something .

Anyhow just a though, if you know it exists, or know a better place for a post like this let me know!

I think this is a very good recommendation as otherwise it is sometimes hard to find the creator of a module once you have installed it and walked away from it for a while.  if this became part of the module install package it would be very helpful!
