We send patients to dentist in different countries.

We would like a system where the following is possible:

  • The dentists can create an open slot for when he can receive patients.
  • When our staff talk with the patients they can type in the patients data, notes and connect the free appointment and the patient.
  • The dentists can log in and see only the information about the patients coming to their clinic.


Could be one of the CRM systems or cataloog?

Or can you suggest some thing else?

  • CataLook is an eCommerce-Solution for buying Goods - AFAIK most of the patients do not pay fixed prices in advance, right?
  • What you are lloking for would be more like an advanced Multi-Scheduler-Solution, though a distributed List management might be sufficient as well
  • I don't think, you will be able to use a standard module - IMO you should think about an individual development.

I would think that this type of solution is already out there in a canned package, the dental/mediacal industry is a popular vertical market for scheduling software.  Where I see companies looking for something else, it's for cost reasons, and I think once you understand the complexity and programming, you understand the cost.  Though I agree it's possible to write this as a DNN application and I also doubt you'll find anything existing that can suffice, make sure you compare the costs between custom software and a canned package.

Of course, if you (or the developer) can resell the software as a solution to other companies, there are advantages to custom programming.

You can try third-party module from http://components.init.si/. It can do this job and you have for free one month fully functional period just to be sure :-)
