In IIS If you reset the application pool this will resolve the problem, for a short time. Or you can open the web.config file in notepad, make a change (add a space somewhere) and save it, that will force DNN to restart.

The problem, to the best of my understanding, is the caching within DNN. If a lot of information is stored in the cache information starts to drop out of the cache, when DNN goes to later use that information it is missing. My guess is one of the first things stored into cache is the list of tabs for a portal, so that is the first to go when cache problems arise, causing the menu to dissappear.

I just logged in as host and was able to get the host portal or menu or whatever it is called. I went to "Portals" and this is the error message that was listed. Is there a "quick fix" to this?

Unhandled error loading module.

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Unhandled Error Adding Module to ContentPane ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Portals.Portals.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.UserControl.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.AddedControl(Control control, Int32 index) at System.Web.UI.ControlCollection.Add(Control child) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.InjectModule(Control objPane, ModuleInfo objModule, PortalSettings PortalSettings) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Thanks for your help!!

Try resetting the application like I mentioned in my previous post, see if the Portals page loads fine after that.
