I am currently working on a site for a client that is an online learning portal.  We wanted to have the course catalog pages visible on the clients site.  Rather than creating individual pages for each catalog we were using Iframe to pull the information directly in from the providers site.  Everything was moving smoothly until we rendered it in IE.  We can edit the page just fine and see the content inside the Iframe but as soon as we log out or go to view mode the content dissappears.  The most bizarre part is that it works completely fine in both edit and view mode in Firefox.  (Opera just makes a huge mess of it by opening Ifram in a different container frame but at least it will show it...even if it's wrong)

The page we are wrapping is a secure page and I'm wondering if that might be the problem with IE displaying it but am at a loss.  I have spent far too many hours trying to figure out why it doesn't work and all I can come up with is IE is EVIL.

The link to the site is http://vcgonlineacademytest-com.web21.winsvr.net/CareersbyState/Arizona/tabid/55/Default.aspx

I am BRAND NEW to DNN but am working with another consultant who has quite a bit of experience with it.  She suggested this board was a great place to start in finding out how to resolve the problem.  Unfortunately she is as baffled by this as I am.

HELP!

I tried to reproduce your issue, but I had no problems to embed and show the course catalog page (http://vanguard.360training.com?state=3&vertical=1&page_view=2) in an IFrame module on my development server.

I tried IE 6/7 and Firefox, in edit and view mode, but the embedded page always showed up. I used the latest IFrame module, version 4.3.0, in DNN 4.8.0, with the default module settings. So I can only guess what the reason for your problem could be:

  • Make sure that you run the latest IFrame module version
  • If you changed the module settings, try it with the default values
  • Try to view the page fom another computer outside your company network

If that doesn't help, you should post your issue again in the DNN IFrame forum. Thats where the IFrame experts are :-)

BTW: I noticed there's a login on the embedded page. If that page stores the login data as cookies, then the users must have third party cookies enabled in their IE to make the login work; see thread "Login in Iframe not working".

Good luck!

I just went through some testing on your site and saw no problem with IE or FF - of course I wasn't abel to login/logout to see if that changed anything. Opera indeed is not displaying anything correctly on either your site or the iframed site - but that's another story.

Can you confirm that you are still having issues with IE? I used XP and IE7

We finally discovered the problem.

We actually had two modules inside the same frame.  It displayed just fine on Firefox but IE was not showing the second module.  We discovered the problem when when viewed the page on a monitor set to higher screen resolution.  We could see the very edge of the second module (iFrame).  We just put the two modules in separate frames and it is working fine now!
