I've searched around and apparantly I am simply missing something simple as I am unable to find any threads pertaining to my issue.  When I authenticate a new user the default role is Administrator. Obviousily, I don't like this as I would like for the default security role to be Registered User.  What am I missing?

When I try and manage the user's role the change to Registered User won't stick.

This is my first post, and I hope I haven't caused myself to get shunned because of this... Thank you in advance.

When you say "when I authenticate a new user" what do you mean? When you login? When you create a new user?

Not to shun you, just educate you :)  it would be far better if you put a more descriptive subject in for your posts rather than just "how do i", you'll probably get more help from people when you tell them what you need.

It's as if there is a setting that causes all initial security roles for New Users to be set to Administrator but I am unable to manually change them after the fact.

Sorry, to elaborate:  when a new user registers and I activate him the default security role for this user is Administrator.

So I try and correct this by going to >Admin>User Accounts> then I find the user and Manage Roles for this user and I try to set a new Role effective immediately and Update Info and nothing..

*Granted, I could go >Control Panel>Roles> edit Administrators>Manage Users in this Role but I get the same non-effect.

I've also tried to manually Add a New User via >Control Panel>Users>Add New User... same outcome.

Go to Admin, Roles, look for Administrators on the list and see if it has a tick in the Auto box on the far right. It should not... edit the role and remove the tick.

If it isn't that then I'm out of ideas.

I appreciate your quick response; however, the only box that has that check (Auto) is the Registered User.

I'm stumped myself.

I am running ver. 4.08.00 if that helps anybody (it was a clean install).
