You'll need to edit the skin's ascx file and replace the logo pane with a content pane. Have a look at the table cells that are the content panes and see how they are created by using ID="pane-name" and runat="server". Then look up to the header section of the skin file and you'll find the bit where the logo is inserted, convert that cell to a content pane by specifying a new ID for it. When you save and refresh, you'll have see the new pane on the pane dropdown. Then you can insert a Text/HTML module and use that to instert a Flash object. There are also dedicated flash modules that you can use, but it isn't necessary.

All of the above will require tweaks to styles (padding) and other bits (possibly to remove padding from teh text/html module), but it is certainly one solution. I use a combined logo and content pane there and then it serves double-duty, letting me add a header either through site settings or using a module.

Another solution is to hardcode the flash into the skin in place of the logo pane.

If you have edited your skin's ascx file, be sure you don't click the parse button on the skins page or your changes will be overwritten when DNN generates new ascx files from the HTML and XML files - if they are present. If they are not present then it doesn't mattter. Alternatively, edit the HTML skin file and then re-parse it. This is getting into skinning as a whole and you'll have to start learning it eventually so now's a good time to start.

OK,

Lets pretend I'm completely new to dnn.  Where would I find the ascx for my skin?

Depending on which skin you are using, it may reside in /portals/_default/skins (sub folder from there) or in /portals/0/skins/ (subfolder from here)

Or possibly in another /portals/#/skins/ folder depending on what PortalId you are in.
