Guys,

Getting to the end of my patience limit on this one so probably best if I explain what I want and if its possible to do who wants to do it for me and how much?

Lets say I have already have an installation of DNN on my server (sadly godaddy) and the site address is www.mysite/folder  I now want to set up more portals operating from the same installation but can those domains be a simple www.mysite.com without the added /folder and witout adding having a redirect?

if this is possible I need someone to do this for me.  To save time I need 6 domains added to the main application domain.

Looking forward to making some head way on this.

Andy

Dont know GoDaddy

But yes you can use as many domains as you wish on one installation of DNN.  Well that depends on how many domains you are allowed.  The best way to do this is to add the other domains to your control panel as domain aliases.  Then just login to your first (main), portal as host.  Navigate to the portals section. Add new portal and then stick in the domain alais that you created before.

Should be that easy

I hope that helps

Wish it was that easy and it seems everyone has found it easy except the ones hosting on Go(Damn)Daddy.

Andy,

Sadly, GoDaddy is one of the ones that doesn't support DNN installation at the root.  Granted you can do it, but it is a major case of workarounds.

To have a portal withouth the /folder after the URL to get into DNN you would have to have your portal installed at the root.

Depending on your needs, you might consider switching hosts if possible.  I use 3Essentials (I have an affiliate link in my signature) and I have greatly enjoyed my experiences with them.  I have a DNN installation with them that has 6 different parent portals and hae never had any configuration issues.

Also PowerDNN is a great provider.

Yes I have actually been looking at another host!  I dont have a problem with the /folder issue.  If I install one dnn install to one domain with the /folder providing other domains running from the initial dnn install doesn't ave the /folder I am fine with it.  This is what I am lead to believe is the case anyway!  The problem after that is trying to work around adding the other domains to work from the installed DNN app?  This is where all things great and small rear their ugly heads!
