Hi All,

No problems with my test server.. all working great so far.   Have some questions as I move forward to production... what type of Server hardware to run a site similar to www.nrl.com/ ?

I am presuming 2 servers... one running SQL server 2005 , and one running Windows 2003 Server/IIS.  Is there any benefit running the 64bit version of Windows 2003 Server? Any problems?

What about processor type, and numbers? Core2 Duo, Quad Core, or Xeon?  What about amount of Ram... any benefit going over 4GB if using Windows2003 64bit?

Would prefer to invest in hardware that will support a fair amount of traffic, with few(er) speed issues on searching and serving pages.

Thoughts would be appreciated by those running larger sites

to scale DotNetNuke for high traffic site, you should consider to first separate database and web server, using Windows Server 2008 for the web server will be much more efficient, if you run DNN 4.8.0 in pipeline mode. Next step will be using a web farm with multiple web servers and a dedicated file server.

Thanks Sebastian.

Any problems using the latest release of DotNetNuke with Windows Server 2008?

Being relatively new to hardware, what would the look and feel be of multiple web servers? I will only be running a single potal under IIS... how can I split this to multple servers - or am I misunderstanding?

What are your thoughts on Processer type?

Many thanks... and any further input from those running a large portal would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Brit
