Folks,

I'm involved with a development web project that is based on DNN Version 4.050.1.  It is installed on the only server available.  I wish to create a -test- DNN environment on my local PC (DotNet 2.0, SQL Server 2005 Express, IIS 5.2, VS 2005, XP Professional).

I cannot find a downloadable version of 4.050.1 and will probably download the lastest version (4.8). However; this raises the issue of upgrading the current "production" box to DNN Version 4.8.  My question is; How reliable is the DNN Installer?  Will it graciously handle an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.8.

I have to be careful.  I am working in a primitive IT Shop with limited resources.  I will have to fully justify my upgrade proposal.

thanks for any suggestions.

Keith

DNN V4.5.1 is available for download on sourceforge at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=77052&package_id=77939  you may need to expand the display to see all the version of DotNetNuke - they are there - I just downloaded v4.5.1 to verify it was actual available.

Good Luck.
Paul.

Keith,

In your case I would recommend downloading DNN 4.5.1 and getting that running on your local install.  To download that version of DotNetNuke simply go to the Downloads page and scroll to the VERY bottom and select "Legacy Releases".  From that link you can get ANY version of DNN that you need.

The upgrade process is possible, but I STRONGLY recommend testing it locally before upgrading a production site.

If you are not familiar with the upgrade processes have a look at my blog site http://www.mitchelsellers.com as I have tutorials available to show you how to upgrade.
