Hi,

The website has private registration.

Upon registering a new user, an email was sent with the correct password.

After the host/admin authorizes the user, another email was sent to the user, but with a blank password.

The password reminder works fine.

My questions are:

1) Is the authorization notification email designed to send the blank password, or is this a bug?

2) If I want to change the content of the emails being sent, will I be able to do so?

Thank you.

1) this is a bug. Which DNN version are you running? you might consider to upgrade to latest.

2) yes, use the Language editor in Admin menu. text is in default file, simply scroll down, edit and update.

Hi,

I'm running DNN 4.8.0 - the latest.

Thank you for your quick reply.

in this case it sounds like an outdated resource file. are you using a language pack, which might be out of date? or do you  have modified the text before, which prevents the text from being updated?

check out the default file you get displayed in Language Editor in Admin menu, and check the Email_User_... text. To get displayed the password it has to contain [Membership:Password].

Hello,

I'm pretty sure that the website is not using it. I have not modify the text before. The reason I asked Q2 was since you've confirmed this behavior is a bug, I went ahead and deleted the password text from the email being sent, since the registration email has already provided the password information correctly to the user.

However, before I did so, I checked the password, and true enough, [Membership:Password] was the text. I don't understand why this works for password reminder and new registration but not for admin authorization email.

Anyways, for my purpose, as long as the password reminder works, it's not too bad of a problem to delete the password from the authorization notification email.

Thank you so much for your help.
