Is it possible that a user can change the view.

What I would like is a set of buttons/links/listbox with user options day | week | month | list.

Here is a sample of what I would like.

Those buttons should be visible by default at the bottom of the container if you

  1. use module version 3.3.8
  2. use one of the standard DNN containers
  3. didn't uncheck the Display Container option
  4. didn't check the Only View option of the Default Module View setting in the Event Module Settings section.

Well spotted Michael. It was not one of the DNN containers. What is it likely to be in the non dnn container that may cause this?

Probably a skin object is missing: <dnn:ACTIONBUTTON  CommandName="AddContent.Action" .... />. This does not only render the Edit button, but some module specific action buttons as well.
