Hi there.  I'm having some trouble upgrading our site from 4.5 -> 4.8.  The upgrade (using upgrade files) appears to work fine.  It completes as it should, and when I view the portal, I can successfully view the pages in the site without issue, but as soon as I try to login to the site I get the following error:

DotNetNuke Error: - Version 04.08.00

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: C:\Domains\DNN.co.nz\wwwroot\Admin\ControlPanel\IconBar.ascx.vb(239): error BC30456: 'Upgrade' is not a member of 'Upgrade'. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: C:\Domains\DNN.co.nz\wwwroot\Admin\ControlPanel\IconBar.ascx.vb(239): error BC30456: 'Upgrade' is not a member of 'Upgrade'. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.UserControl.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.AddedControl(Control control, Int32 index) at System.Web.UI.ControlCollection.Add(Control child) at DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Page.OnInit(EventArgs e) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

If anyone knows what might be causing this error, or what I can do to resolve the issue I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers,

Reuben.

I've seen several similar reports in the DotNetNuke forums, and I witnessed one at a user group meeting.

If you first upgrade your site to 4.6.2, you should  then be able to upgrade t0 4.8.0.

Another poster says that removing outdated dll files from the bin directory will solve the problem.  You might want to look for that post, too.

I bought a module from snowcovered yesterday and got a similar message after  the module apparently downloaded succesfully:

DotNetNuke Error: - Version 04.05.05

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: D:\websites\69.20.97.235\localuser\re100331\Admin\ControlPanel\IconBar.ascx.vb(211): error BC30456: 'Upgrade' is not a member of 'Upgrade'. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: D:\websites\69.20.97.235\localuser\re100331\Admin\ControlPanel\IconBar.ascx.vb(211): error BC30456: 'Upgrade' is not a member of 'Upgrade'. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.PostProcessFoundBuildResult(BuildResult result, Boolean keyFromVPP, VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetBuildResultFromCacheInternal(String cacheKey, Boolean keyFromVPP, VirtualPath virtualPath, Int64 hashCode) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultFromCacheInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.UserControl.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.AddedControl(Control control, Int32 index) at System.Web.UI.ControlCollection.Add(Control child) at DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Page.OnInit(EventArgs e) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I'm not an expert by any means, just a humble person trying to build a website and child portal.  Can somebody tell me what would be the best route for me to do.  Obviously going through a checklist or old dll files may seem like foreign language, but if that works for certain, somehow I will have to look at it.  Please help!
