What is everyone's opinion for the best data handling module out there for DNN 4.x? What I mean is a module that can be used to front end database tables and give the ability to do inline editing, basic data manipulation, add, delete, update, etc. and have the ability to pass data and execute stored procedures, etc?

Depends on what your definition of "best" is.

ListX, Indoo Grid, and Universal List are the three that will allow you to connect to outside databases. ListX is the most powerful but has the highest learning curve. Indoo Grid is up and coming but is pretty dependent on grid type views. Univeral List was showing a lot of promise but has died off in the last 6 mos - don't know what is happening there.

Xmod has the best display engine outside of ListX, is much easier to use, and can connect to outside databases if you have the ability to write a custom data manager. They supply a 58 page manual on how to write such a data manager but you will need some experience. They have talked about providing a generic data manager but they are not there yet.

Opps, forgot sqlgridselectview!  It is a free module and the last version seems pretty powerful but again it is focused more on the grid type views.

Hope this helps.

Any idea where I can locate this 58 page manager on writing my own data manager for XMod? I don't see it on their site.

It comes with the product.

If you post on their forums or better yet - ask a question regarding the product on snowcovered I'm sure they would send it to you.
