I installed Blog Module 03.04.00 successfully and create a blog with no problem. I need to attach files in the blog post so I went to the Online Help and read about the Blog Module. It said that I need to:

1) log in as admin;

2) go to the Module Options from the Most recent blog entry module menu;

3)  at Allow Upload Options: check  check.gif to enable bloggers to upload images and file when adding blog entries.

But I didn't see the Allow Upload Options item in the Module Options menu. Am I missing something?

Thx.

Cynthia,

The Online Help module is out of date.  It's my understanding that the capability to upload files and images when making a blog entry has been removed from the latest version of the Blog module.  Past versions of the module automatically added links to Blog post and placed files in a directory structure which corresponded to the user and individual blog entry.  See this post for more:

Some folks have voiced concern over the removal of this feature and asked that it be put back.

Hi Cynthia,

Dealing with images is one of the main reasons why I created metaPost, a module which allows you to add blog entries from Windows Live Writer.  The great thing about using Windows Live Writer is that you can just copy and paste images into your post and then publish.  No uploads.  I've configured metaPost to place the images in a folder hierarchy at the root of your protal which includes folders for the user as well as the post.

The module is free from Snowcovered if you want to check it out.  Also, I'll be releasing a professional edition in the next few weeks with more features and an SDK for using metaPost with other modules.

Yes, this module has been shot in the head.

I would advise against using it anywhere other than a single-author environment, and where that author is also the portal administrator. Don't upgrade from the old blog if you have been using it with multiple authors and don't upgrade it if you allow edit-users to create their own blogs.

Using the previous version of the blog adds all the functionality back, but may be a complete dead-end if the entire affair continues to be ignored by the team.

Hard to say what to do

Rob
