Hello guys,

I've been on a buzz the last couple of days, got my DNN setup running and i've been configuring/skinng/moduling etc... until late in the night!

now i've hit a bit of a snag, ive designed the site and got it all working correctly as i test in the browser (Firefox or IE). but in all my exictment

i didn't test in windows active desktop (this is what my company wants - DNN as an intranet system and people log on and it runs as an active desktop)

now if i add the DNN site as an active desktop and i click any of the links, it opens them up in a new browser (so i cant login on the active desktop as its opened the link in a new window). Now i can only presume this is an active desktop settings because it doesnt do that if i run on the browser.

my question has anyone else toyed with using DNN as a Active Desktop, have they solved this problem? or encountered any other problems?

kind regards,

Mike

i found this solution:

Just thought I'd share this simple trick with ya!  To use a desktop web item as a browser (clicking links opens in same desktop item), you have to create a local html file with a single frame that points to your start page.  Then, the links you click will open in that frame.  Here is my template:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN"
   "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/frameset.dtd">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Desktop Item</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<FRAMESET cols="100%">
  <FRAME src="your_start_page.html">
</FRAMESET>
</HTML>
