Hi Folks,

Quite a few of my clients have no idea how to resize images and therefore keep uploading 1Mb+ images while only displaying them at for example 300px wide.

I know there are image upload modules available but that requires uploading the images before using them in the Text/Html module.

So what I am thinking of is a scheduled process that would automatically resize any images over a maximum width/height within designated folders.

I could write one in Classic ASP but I wouldn't know how to schedule that in DNN. But I could ask my ISP to create a scheduled task but that takes time and effort ;-)

Does anyone know of such a module, or can even how to schedule and external task within DNN.

Many thanks in advance

Tony

Creating a scheduled task is actually very simple.  However, it requires a bit of programming.  The documentation on this is very straightforward:

If for some reason that link doesn't work, open the "Scheduler" documentation from here:

Hi Tony,

If you want to stop the problem at the source, check out digMeta.  Your users can use Windows Live Writer to edit their Text/HTML modules.  If they resize the image to  300x300, Live Writer will only upload a 300x300 image.

Thanks,
Mike
